Vogue Italia's 25th Anniversary

The Prada cover

The Giorgio Armani cover
Famed fashion magazine, Vogue, has come a long way since it's beginnings in 1892, and has expanded to editions that cater to the different tastes of women worldwide. Vogue Italia has become distinguishable due to the open-minded and realistic focus on social issues such as the unethical motivations behind war and plastic surgery and the featuring of plus size models within the issue, which has all been thanks to the ever-creative Editior-in-Chief Franca Sozzani.

The Dolce & Gabbana cover
To celebrate her 25th year as head of the magazine, six designers have produced individual fold-out covers, which are no doubt a collector's item for those who praise the magazine. Photographed by famous fashion photographer, Steven Miesel, the covers feature some of fashion's favourite faces, the models Gisele Bundchen and Linda Evangelista, in the latest fashions by global Italian luxe labels (detailed on the photographs). Each cover reflects the unique ethos of each label and designer, in turn highlighting the talents of all the creative forces which have contributed to the celebration of Ms. Sozzani's leadership.

Vanishing Elephant | Working Magazine #1

The young and coveted Australian fashion label, Vanishing Elephant, has expanded into the world of journalism. Their publication, named "Working", offers loyalists an insight into what inspires the designers Huw, Felix and Arran. Working is a publicly tangible mood board, with Trevor King photography, an exploration of Archival's architecture, Brisbane's Dane Lovett's odd yet humbling artwork and more. It's obvious to see that Vanishing Elephant's ethos and aesthetic is an appropriation and combination of these inspirations whilst flicking through the journal, but the designers have managed to mould an aesthetic of their own. A well-rounded and concise journal is rare nowadays, and Vanishing Elephant have certainly done well. Make sure to download you copy by clicking on the link below.

Central St. Martin's New Project

You're not the first to be confused by this magazine cover, but this magazine is actually the new project from the intimidating and world-renowned Central St Martins College of Arts & Design. If you don't know of Central St. Martins, the college has given birth to the highly successful fashion design careers of the late Alexander McQueen, controversial John Galliano, Céline's Phoebe Philo, and my personal favourites, British designer Christopher Kane and the rebellious Givenchy Creative Director, Riccardo Tisci.

From 1 Granary editorial, "All. White. Everything", December 2012
It was only a matter of time before the highly skilled and talented students of the prestigious college would start a publication, especially with the expansion of journalism into the digital world, as most things have, and the opening of rival college, The Condé Nast College. The magazine, called "1 Granary", will be covering fashion, art & design, and is yet to be released. But, the blog has already been established, offering us jealous types to peer into the college and the students' collective interests.

For more information on the college and the courses they offer, head to www.csm.arts.ac.uk
