Paintbox

Just another Taubman's Australia paint bucket you say? Think again, as once you open this bucket, a shirt lies inside waiting to be worn. They say fashion feeds on art, as controversially shown by performance artist Marina Abramovic and Riccardo Tisci from Givenchy via a nude photoshoot, but this collaboration makes this idea much more accessible. The Italian cotton tee features a brightly warped orchid print designed by Australian fashion royalty, Josh Goot, complementing his visually organic style and array of colours available throughout Taubman's Australia's range of paints.

Using colours from Taubman's such as Lavendula, Rouge Roi, Split Lime and Taffy Twist to create the print, the designer has managed to produce a tshirt that reflects the love of the tropics, summery weather and healthiness that Australians have. The tee is arriving just in time for the Summer of the Southern Hemisphere, being available in December 13 at the label's Paddington (Sydney) and Melbourne boutiques.

Going Beyond the Lens with Vogue Australia

Australian fashion design exports, Sass & Bide, on display
A revealing yet demure dress by Willow
Two influential forces of Australian fashion - Westfield and Vogue Australia, have teamed up to present the best Australian and International fashion designers that have been featured in the Fashion Bible. Spreading across 3 floors in the ultra-modern Westfield Sydney, top Australian designers such as Willow, Collette Dinnigan, Christopher Esber, Ksubi and LVMH's newly bought bush oufitters, R.M. WIlliams and International luxury labels such as Prada, Calvin Klein, Salvatore Ferragamo and Bottega Veneta's designs are exhibited in fashion photographs that encapsulate the personality and aesthetic of the designer and label itself. As you walk around the centre, commentary on the photographs and the future of fashion and its place in society by the recently appointed Fashion Editor of Vogue Australia and street style superstar, Christine Centenera and Genevra Leek are available to watch, further increasing the exhibition's interactivity and viewer's insight into the often overlooked fashion industry. My 3 favourite Australian designers were featured in the exhibition, all revolutionary in their vision and are leaders of Australian fashion - Josh Goot, Romance Was Born and Dion Lee (pictured below).

The clarity of the store window goes straight to the point of simplicity and structure of the designs
A few days ago, I visited the Josh Goot store in Paddington, not only for my own interest, but for my assessment for Fashion Merchandising this term. My task is to analyse the overall merchandising of the designs within a store and the store itself. I had no doubt that since Josh Goot is one of my favourite Australian designers, I would use the store for my report.

Neon has always glowed throughout Mr. Goot's collections
I've passed by the store a couple of times before, and I have always loved how it stands out among the terraces in Paddington. The crystal clear studio is perfect for showcasing Josh Goot's designs, the vibrancy of the neons and pop colour against the white walls attracts anyone who walks by.

The neons and graphics are beautifully broken up with complementary neutrals.
As you shop around the store, each rack separates the three main aspects of the collection - neon, graphics and neutral. I'm saving his wonderful graphics for last as his prints have always been the pinnacle of his designs. I've noticed that the upcoming trend for the Spring/Summer season encompasses a lot of pairing neon with neutral colours in a way which complements the blinding beauty of fluorescence.

Mr. Goot's signature graphic prints are displayed to bring in the passers-by
Last, but certainly not least, the graphic prints which Josh Goot is known for are strategically placed to attract passers-by into the store. I cannot describe to you how much I love his prints, but the least I can say is that, if I was a girl, I'd always wear Josh Goot.
