Mercedes Benz Fashion Week - Day 3

I unfortunately was not able to attend any shows on Day 3 of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, but if I did, I would've definitely gone to the Menswear showcase. It was a day for unique men of fashion, celebrating the progression of dynamic and minimalist androgynous menswear that has no doubt emerged as a trend in recent years. The transformation of the male form through these clean cut futuristic designs can be seen in the collections of Zsadar, From Britten, Kalb & Etiw and Injury.

Zsadar SS12

Zsadar's collection exudes both earthy minimalism and elements of mechanical steam punk fashion. It is the distortion of minor details and the focus on fabrics which create these unique pieces art in itself, and may I say, the septum piercings remind me of Givenchy FW12...

From Britten SS12

Words cannot explain how happy I am to see a hint of London luxury street wear in From Britten's latest collection. The cult status of luxury street wear in London has made the style nearly impossible to bring down under, and now From Britten has made clear to Australian men that this style is one not to be messed with, just like the chaps who first gave this style it's status.

Injury SS12

Attention grabbing prints have been something that men usually avoid, but Injury have proven that prints need not be ignored, but embraced. The bold prints are toned down with greyscale and muted colours, enhancing its ability to be worn on the street, without deterring those style stares. Make a statement on the street with Injury's new collection!

Make sure to check out the collections from other shows during the day including Zimmermann, Lisa Ho, Alice McCall, Sara Phillips, Ellery, Watson x Watson, Kooey and An Ode To No One.

Mercedes Benz Fashion Week - Day 2

I'm wearing aVersace H&M shirt, Zara jacket, Zara jeans, New Era cap, Ray Ban sunglasses and Yves Saint Laurent boots
My mum is wearing a Helmut Lang cardigan, vintage leather bag, Zara jeans, Zara top, Prada sunglasses andTopshop shoes
Today I treated my mum to the buzz of going to fashion shows, and she loved every minute of it. We went to the Toi Et Moi show, which you can have a glimpse of HERE, bringing a touch of french chic down under, and presented a relaxed Parisian style which will surely take off well in Australia. The flow of the clothing in combination with the simply elegant prints and patterns give women an opportunity to show their best style with minimal effort. After the show, we treated ourselves to a day in the city, and I bought my mum a new pair of shoes!

Other shows during the day, which I wanted to attend, included Maticevski, Flowers for a Vagabond, Michael Lo Sordo and Magdalena Velevska. The collections can be viewed on FASHIONISING.

Mercedes Benz Fashion Week - Day 1

Some of the fashion industry's most influential are now here in Sydney for Mercedes Benz Fashion Week!
Buyers, celebrities, media and bloggers are all flocking to beautiful Circular Quay where most of the shows will be held and are all ready to flaunt their style on the streets and in the shows.
Notable names include the one and only Bryan Boy, Rumi Neely from Fashiontoast, Tim Blanks from Style.com and Susie Bubble from Style Bubble.

Day 1 included shows from designers Romance Was Born, Kirrily Johnston, Manning Cartellthe quirky Gary Bigeni and Dylan Cooper (where my colleague Jamie Regan was doing backstage photography, check out his fashion photography HERE).

My favourite collection from the day were from the simply rebellious Ksubi.

Ksubi SS12/13

The moment I received an invite to the Ghost Shoppe screening in my email for Ksubi, I could not hold my excitement. I attended the screening in a crowd of undeniably anticipating fashionistas and fashionistos, but I could feel the tension in the room, as if we all thought the same thing - "What does Ksubi have in store for us next?"

Well, the show proved that they had London luxury street wear right at the top of their minds, with a lot of denim, grey cotton jersey, leather sneakers, silver pvc and of course the infamous hibiscus and palm tree prints... which Ksubi knew exactly how to pull off with a rough edge. I cannot wait to get my hands on some of the pieces in the collection!

FASHION TV & F VODKA - A Night for Emerging Designers

Fashion TV hosted a wonderful night at The Backroom in Sydney, giving a chance for emerging Australian designers to show off their collections. I attended the night with my good friends Nikki and Gabe, who are both fashion enthusiasts, check out their blogs! I also met the wonderful Dee from KabukiMe Designs and Patrice, a local bubbly artist!

Gabe in Burberry and Gap
The collections by Kid.2 Shae, Jacinda Anne Millinery, Naomi LeviNattivo and Tweet Designs were all a true insight into the potential which all of these designers have to make it big in the market. The outstanding collection for me was Mariam Seddiq, whose designs reflected and drew inspiration from the high class sophistication of couture collections from Valentino, Dior, Yves Saint Laurent and even Chanel's Cruise Collection for 2012.

It was a great night and thanks to Shae Fleming and Fashion TV who organised the night!

Chronicles of Never Fall/Winter 2012 preview at The Annex

Gareth Moody and I

The Annex hosted a wonderful evening for the Chronicles of Never Fall/Winter 2012 collection preview last week, and I was left a bit starstruck as I entered The Annex to find Gareth Moody himself was amongst the crowd, and I was lucky enough to have a chat with the esteemed designer.
My friend Soma and I absolutely loved the upcoming collection, Mr. Moody once again proving to the fashion industry that his powerful and eerily beautiful designs bring a new perspective on what fashion is all about. I cannot wait to get my hands on one of the pieces from the upcoming collection and wear it until it frays, like Mr. Moody said himself.

Thanks to The Annex for a great night and my Oyster magazine and Aesop products!
