Armani Privé's 10th Anniversary

Once in a while in fashion, a collection seems to turn the tide not in setting trends, but for reviving true appreciation for fashion without that superficial want to wear what is shown so you can be seen. Armani Privé's Spring 2015 Couture is one such collection.

Elevating its stellar beauty, this collection is the 10th from the Armani Privé house. And what a way to celebrate this milestone - look after look after look, there seemed to be no going wrong for Mr. Armani. The first looks were dazzling in champagne hues, in a myriad of both hard-edged and softly fabrics, rife with Oriental elements such as the bamboo print.

As the show went on, the collection transition into a more elemental theme - with the faint earthy browns and champagnes replaced by a smokey green. The greens fit perfectly with what seemed to be shoals resembling seaweed and layered skirts that emulate the flow of the flora in water. Despite this, the Oriental feel did not go away, with the pieces being an interpretation of Ancient Japanese clothing for the modern, sophisticated woman.

Finally, the collection ended with shining cobalt blues and stark blues in chiffon and silks. These were by far the most beautiful of the collection, the embellishments enhancing the exquisiteness of the evening gowns. Again, the juxtaposition of rigid and flowing fabrics along with luxe embellishments make for a Couture collection like no other this season. This collection showed how and why Mr. Armani is still one of the reigning fashion designers of our time.

Kukula's Kute Kouture

Sometimes it's hard to appreciate the wonderment of Haute Couture, especially when the extremities of the designers' creativity is expressed in full. But, there are a few who translate these inapproachable pieces into more appreciable works. Israeli-born artist, Kukula, has illustrated a few of the outstanding Couture pieces presented by the designers last week, including Ulyana Sergeenko, Valentino, Chanel and Giambattista Valli. The faintness, subtle impact and ethereal air which the illustrations exude match the designer's visions perfectly, spreading the reach of which Couture usually is limited.

The King of Fashion makes a stand for Equality

A depiction of the happiness of same-sex families

Karl walked out in the finale to thunderous applause for his social statement

Following Barack Obama's inauguration speech stating his support for equal rights to marriage, there was no better chance for other powerful and influential people to express their views on this contemporary social issue. Among the seemingly macabre Chanel Haute Couture dresses, two beautiful brides holding hands with a child symbolized Karl Lagerfeld's support for equality. Fashion Designers and Creative Directors have always had the chance to express their political and social views through their collections and shows, especially Vivienne Westwood and Martin Margiela, but the fact that the King of Fashion has made this stand is a sign that this right will be granted to all LGBT people all over the world in a matter of time, which will be a major progression in social rights. The combination of Barack Obama and Karl Lagerfeld's subtle protests will have surely given much needed hope to LGBT all over the world, and I am all for it.

Dior's inexplicable beauty

The up and coming King of Fashion - Raf Simons

Raf Simons first Haute Couture collection was a sight to behold, but he has once again proven why he is the future of fashion. His second Haute Couture collection for Dior is, as I said in the headline, inexplicably beautiful. The sparkly lips, bold colours, the flattering and fun silhouettes, the sheer cleanliness of the collection - what a feast for the senses. How a man can incorporate the true Dior aesthetic and incorporate it with his distinguishable minimalist vision to design a collection for the modern Dior woman I will never know.
